I just caught word of NASA’s new mission to the moon whose sole purpose is to scout for water.

Excellent.

However… the article I read (and I *hope* it’s the author, and not NASA making this statement) suggests that water is important as drinking water and as rocket fuel.

Please… in an environment where, even if there is some water (which there is) it will be a very tiny amount (compared to how much water Humans can use / need) you do not waste it on one-time-only uses such as fuel! If it can not be recovered 100% you find some other solution for your need.

(Unless we are talking about some new development in engines where Hydrogen and Oxygen burn producing the energy that was “stored” by electrolyzing the water, *and* the resultant water vapor is captured 100%. But that seems unlikely for several reasons.)

You don’t waste water on something like that.

Didn’t the author / NASA ever read Dune? All six volumes of it?

Jeez…
